On Saturday, a fuel-laden truck collided with a commercial bus on the LagosIbadan expressway, killing two people.

The truck driver is believed to have fled the scene in order to avoid being lynched.

Two other people were reportedly injured in the accident, which occurred around 6 a.m. when the tanker driver lost control due to brake failure.

The early morning accident occurred near the New Makun City, Lenuwa, outgoing Lagos, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.

The traffic accident included a MACK tanker truck with the license plate AKD 549 XL and a Toyota Hiace bus with the license plate KSF 259 CQ.

“The rolling tanker squeezed the bus, killing two passengers instantaneously and wounding two others,” TRACE Corps Public Relations Officer Babatunde Akinbiyi said.

He said, “According to an eyewitness, the truck had brake failure, the driver lost control in the process and the truck rammed into a bus in its front of it and squeezed the bus.”

Akinbiyi added that the bodies of the victims were deposited at Idera Hospital, Sagamu interchange, where the injured are also being treated.

Commiserating with the families of the deceased, the traffic regulatory agency warned drivers and owners of articulated vehicles to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and avoid speeding and dangerous driving.Oh
