A few months ago, Waje announced her retirement from music, a move which didn’t seem to take effect, as she went on to collaborate with Omawumi shortly after. Now, she’s teamed up with 2Baba to call out fake friends on their new track, “Frenemies“.

2Baba and Waje are both acclaimed artists who consistently deliver great tracks, so you can imagine the excitement upon hearing about this team-up. Unfortunately, while the message certainly resonates, the song itself doesn’t quite rise to the heights we expected from the pairing.

Against a limp, reggae-influenced beat, the two sing about people who smile to their faces, but plot against them behind their backs. For the Lucky Doors-directed video, 2Baba records himself as he sings the song, meeting loads of fake friends on his way to link up with Waje.
