Following the unexpected success of Falz's "This Is Nigeria" — inspired by Childish Gambino's "This Is America" — the rapper finally revisits his acclaimed third album, 27, releasing a video for one of the project's standout tracks: "Next" featuring Maleek Berry and Ghanaian rapper, Medikal.
Solidly produced by Maleek Berry, "Next" is a catchy 'get-money, make-moves' anthem that finds its three stars declaring that, following all their relentless hustling, the time has finally come for them to run things — both financially and musically.
While Falz spits solid verses about his come-up ("Tell my mummy say I don blow/Tell am say money don show") and Medikal brags about the hits he scores ("They put my shit on repeat/ I tell the DJ, 'can you skip to the rest?'), the true MVP here is Maleek, who delivers yet another instantly infectious chorus.
For the music video, which was directed by Visionnaire Pictures, we head back in time to the Renaissance era, where all the wealthy white men and women we typically attribute to this time period have been replaced with black women and the song's core trio.
