Since Korede Bello returned from his inexplicable hiatus, the Mavin Records singer has been trying — nay, struggling — to land a track that successfully reintroduces him as one of the leading voices in afropop.
His first single, "Melanin Popping" was a disappointing misfire; his second effort, the Don Jazzy-produced "Work It" was a tiny step in the right direction; and his third and latest release, "Sote" is easily the best of the bunch.
Although the Baby Fresh-produced "Sote" might not be groundbreaking in any regard, it's a competent and catchy enough afropop song that we wouldn't be surprised if it serves as Korede Bello's ticket back to relevance.
On "Sote", Korede Bello promises to give his lover everything she wants — both materially and emotionally. "Shey na alert you want, I go give you sote/Abi na loving you need oh, I go give you sote", he sings at the very start of the track.
With each passing 2018 release, it's clear that Korede Bello is slowly but surely getting his hitmaking groove back. It's only a matter of time before the pint-sized singer delivers a track that's not just fine, but actually great.
