Three months ago, Ycee and Bella Alubo dropped a brilliant joint EP, Late Night Vibrations, a short and sweet project filled to the brim with distinct love songs. One of our favourite songs off it was "Empathy", which the two have just released a video for to make us fall in love with it all over again.
A slow-tempo beat laced with lyrics that anyone in the modern dating scene can relate to, it's not hard to see why "Empathy" is one of the EP's standout songs. Both artists sound really good and compliment each other well throughout the song.
The pair sing about their significant other lacking empathy towards their heartbreak. Ycee sings "You act like you don't know what a nigga going through, how", and Bella replies with "You like to think you're a good guy, but you're not" – which is 95% of the guys we've dated!
Directed by Visionnaire Picture, the video is set in London, where each musician is paired up with their lover. The storyline doesn't really match the song, as it's mostly clips of them loved up and doing romantic things around town — opposing the desolate lyrics. Nonetheless, it's still engaging and nicely shot, and we wonder which song from the EP will get a video next!
