Dapo Fagbenle (professionally known as Daps) is a brilliant music video director who has worked with a number of prominent artists including Kendrick Lamar, Davido, Wizkid, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, Migos and 2 Chainz.
He has just added another visual home run to his impressive résumé with the colourful video for Nicki Minaj and Quavo's "She For Keeps" — off the Quality Control mixtape, Control The Streets Vol. 1.
The Daps and Quavo-directed video offers up a candy-coated aesthetic packed with 70's nostalgia. One would think it'd be difficult to marry trap music and that era but the talented Daps pulls it off flawlessly.
In usual Quavo fashion, the track is filled with awesome ad-libs which will make you play the song a few times over just to learn exactly when to recite them. The song finds the rapper spitting bars about a love interest, asking for someone to tell him whether she's for keeps or not.
Nicki Minaj hops on the second verse to remind us (yet again) that "bitches is [her] sons", and she makes them nervous. The two make for a solid rap-duo on this track, and it definitely grows on you after a few listens. This is great because the video is fun to watch and also demands repeat viewings! Well done, Daps!
