– Pep Guardiola has stated that he made a mistake to have left Yaya Toure out of his squad since the start of the season
– The Ivorian only played his first game of the season on Saturday, November 19, 2016 and scored two goals against Crystal Palace
– Yaya was not registered for the Champions League, and Guardiola is now considering registering him should the club make it to the next round
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has admitted that leaving Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure out of his squad for three months might have been a ‘mistake’ considering how the player responded when been used in his first game of the season on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Since the start of the current football season in England, Pep Guardiola and the 29-year-old midfielder have been involved in logger jam in which forced the midfielder to be kept out of the squad. But on Saturday November 19, 2016, Pep Guardiola gave him the chance to feature in his first game of the season, and the former Barcelona star was superb as he netted both goals which condemned Crystal Palace to a 2-1 defeat.
Manchester City will face Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, but City will be without Yaya Toure who is not eligible as he has been excluded from the European squad.
The tactician has now agreed that he might have made a ‘mistake’ not to have registered Yaya Toure for the Champions League campaign. ”Yaya was my player at Baecelona, and I know him very well, but I might have made mistakes, but I am here to make decision and I respect that all the people cannot agree with me.” he said
