A former Nigerian Ambassador has condemned the Nigerian Government for deployment of military to supervise elections in the country.
Nigeria’s former Ambassador to South Korea, Desmond Akawor, asked the federal government to intervene and stop the heavy deployment of the military in Rivers State, which is causing undue panic among the people. The deployment of soldiers did not only cause panic in the state, the Army, DS, Police and other security operatives were watched in their deep involvement in attempts to obstruct the electoral process and alter the results in favour of candidates being supported by APC leader, Rotimi Amaechi, in the Rivers State.
In Bayelsa State, Soldiers invaded the resident of a commissioner in the state, violently moved into their rooms and kitchen, scaring everybody within the premises.
Akawor who is now the director general of the PDP campaign organization in Rivers State described the role of the military in elections as an embarrassment to the nation.
He insisted that if the electoral act had been passed into law, the pockets of problems faced during the 2019 general elections would not have surfaced.
Akawor said the people will resist any attempt to subvert their will and appealed to party supporters and all well-meaning people to maintain peace in Rivers State.
