Princess Diana's butler Paul Burrell brags he still has royal pals and can get a message to the Queen 'any time'
Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has insisted he still has contacts within the Royal Family.
The 59-year-old made the claim as he prepared to enter the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here .
“I can get a message quicker to the Queen than I can to my agent,” he said.
“And she is not on Facebook and she doesn’t have a mobile phone.”
Burrell was a footman for Queen Elizabeth before becoming Princess Diana ’s butler and lived at Buckingham Palace for 11 years.
In an interview before heading into the South African jungle to compete on the Channel Ten reality show, Burrell did say there are still questions surrounding Princess Diana’s death in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
“I am mystified,” he said. “When the accident happened, it took 40 minutes for the ambulance to take her body to the hospital and I went on that journey and it was 10 minutes. So what happened to the other 30 minutes?
“I don’t know what happened in Paris because I wasn’t there. I know what she told me. I know what she feared.
“I am not going to tell you dirty laundry secrets, that is not my style.
“I am still loyal and true and Princess Diana’s colours are nailed to my mast for the rest of my life. I am going to remind the younger generation of that incredible, unique inspirational human being.
“There is a lot more to say about Princess Diana and the Queen, respectful things.”
He added: “Prince William is going to be King of Australia one day, I want people to know where he came from, what his mother taught him and why he will make a good king.”
Burrell will be joined on the show by former I’m A Celeb UK winner Vicky Pattison who has postponed her wedding so she can take part.
She said: “It was going to be this year and everyone was speculating – why is it going to be put back? Is she pregnant, have they fallen out of love? Does she have cold feet?
“No – I’m off to the bl**dy jungle! I haven’t got time to plan a wedding!”
Both Burrell and Pattison are late entries to the show which started two weeks ago and which was previously won by English cricketer Freddie Flintoff. They could be in there for up to a month.
