A mum revealed her horror after discovering her daughter’s school had shaved her child’s head without permission before telling the little girl that ‘it would grow back straight’ instead of curly.

Denise Robinson’s daughter, Tru, lives at a group home facility called Little Heroes in Auburn, Massachusetts, in the US,where she was staying when she was taken for a hair cut last Sunday.

The seven-year-old, who is mixed race, was then allegedly told that after her hair was shaved off, it would grow back straight.

Denise, who says Tru’s hair grew down her back, says she was told that her daughter’s hair was cut for hygiene reasons.

Denise told USA Today: “They made a game out of it, and gave her candy while they were cutting her hair.

“Then, after they cut her hair, they told her ‘oh, it will grow back straight, don’t worry’.

Denise’s lawyer, Richard Kendall, said: “I’m not afraid to say it. I’ll talk about the elephant in the room. I believe it’s a biracial matter.”

He added: “She’s a very emotionally damaged young lady with behavioral issues, and to put this on top of the whole entire thing is really rough.”

Speaking to 7 News Boston, Denise added: “When you have a mixed race child and you shave her head bald, that’s a statement right there.

“When you tell her that her hair is going to grow back straight when it’s not straight and it’s not going to be straight, that’s a problem too.”

The Department of Children and Families is investigating the incident after Denise revealed that Tru was very upset about getting her hair cut off.

In a statement, the school said: “Decisions regarding grooming are based on a variety of factors, including hygiene. A review of the circumstances is underway to determine what occurred and, if necessary, appropriate action will be taken.”
