– David Beckham wants Lionel Messi for Inter Miami’s debut MLS season in 2020
– The Argentine will be 33 when Inter Miami join the MLS campaign
– Beckham is ambitious with his new team and plans to win over Latinos support
Manchester United Legend David Beckham is targeting Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi ahead of Inter Miami’s official campaign in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020.
According to a UK Sun report citing sources in the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old Albiceleste captain is among the top players on Miami’s wish-list as they prepare to splash out the cash.
Messi’s current deal at the Nou Camp runs out in 2021 at the age of 33 and might not be keen to move to another European club as well as returning to Argentina after his recent experiences with the Albiceleste.
However, Miami with a huge population of Latino Americans would no doubt serve as a credible option, for the five-time world best player.
On the other hand, Beckham’s intimidating credentials in the round-leather game and financial backing is expected to play a significant role, in helping Miami seal a successful deal for the likes of Messi.
Interestingly, the deal will enter the MLS record books if the world-class Argentina star eventually, joins the US club at the peak of his game.
At the last count, no football stars that include Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thierry Henry and Beckham played in the MLS at the top of their game.
Currently, Beckham and eggheads of his MLS club, Inter are preoccupied with the task of getting for a home ground but the awareness of their debut in 2020 is growing by the day.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that former England and Manchester United star David Beckham has revealed some of the high profile players that will join his MLS club Inter Miami ahead of the club’s launch in 2020.
According to a UK Daily Mail report, some of the senior players expected to turn out in the new club’s pink kit include Beckham’s former Red Devils teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The report noted that in 2020 the Portuguese will have less than 12 months on his present contract at Serie A champions Juventus and would be a good buy for Inter Miami even as 35.
