Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has insisted that he is excited about the club’s opening fixtures during the 2018/19 season that kicks-off on the weekend of 11-12 August.
The London club is scheduled to host champions Manchester City at the Emirates stadium in their first fixture, before traveling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in their first away match.
The intimidating schedule generated mixed reactions among football fans, with some sensationally claiming that the Premier League hates Arsenal.
Others guaranteed that Unai had been handed the toughest possible start to the Premier League as Arsenal boss.
However, reacting to the news on Thursday, June 14, Unai asserted that he was excited despite the daunting nature of the two openers.
The Spaniard was responding to a tweet from the Premier League’s official handle that published the fixtures.
Interestingly, Emery has never won ten of his previous meetings with Pep Guardiola.
The 46-year old assumed his position as Arsenal manager in May, succeeding Frenchman Arsene Wenger who resigned last season after 22-years at the helm of the North London side.
Since his arrival, Emery has made four summer signings, including Stephan Lichsteiner who arrived at the club on a free transfer from Juventus.
Others are Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The four are expected to feature during the opening matches of the season, even as Emery looks to find a stable starting line-up for the Emirates outfit.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how reigning Premier League champions Manchester City will start the defense of their title against rivals Arsenal as the new season will start on August 11, 2018.
The fixture is expected to be a great test for new Arsenal coach Unai Emery as his side face the champions who only lost two games last season with 100 points.
