We’ll gladly welcome Governor Ortom back to our party – Benue PDP youths
– A youth forum in the state are however hopeful that the governor will change his mind and defect to the PDP
The Benue state PDP Grassroots Forum for Good Governance have expressed optimism that Governor Samuel Ortom will return to their party ahead of the 2019 general election.
The group made this known at a press briefing in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, on Thursday July 12.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, the president, David Onoja stated that Governor Ortom has shown that he has the ability to deliver excellently all that he wishes and proposed for the people of Benue state.
He opined that very few pubic officials in the country can surmount the challenges Governor Ortom has been faced under his administration in his effort to give the Benue people a better life.
According to him, the governor’s leadership qualities especially in the area of disaster management is worthy of note.
His words: “The alertness and responsiveness, with which he approached disaster responsibilities have saved many lives and property and thus averted the pervasive suffering that would have befallen our people. This effort is appreciable and worthy of applause.
“The provision of relief materials such as temporary accommodation, foods and clothes for displaced persons as a result of attacks even in the midst of limited resources and almost near zero assistance from the Federal Government at present is a gesture that is worthy of applause.”
The group frowned at the uncharitable clamour for the replacement of the governor by s section of social media, adding that the pragmatic leadership style will be a value addition to the PDP.
They said their membersof over five thousand (5,000) members across Benue state are ready to welcome back Ortom to the party.
The group also endorsed the governor for a second term in office and promised to mobilize mass to support for his ambition as a pay-back for his defense of the people of Benue and his good works.
They also called on him to be bold and courageous and fear no intimidation from any person, group, or party.

Meanwhile, hundreds of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Ondo state have defected to the newly formed Advanced Democratic Congress (ADC) backed by former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
The former APC members, led by Adeola Ademulegun announced their defection at a rally held in Ondo, headquarters of Ondo West local government area of the state.
