Nigerians sympathise with Davido, Chioma over son’s death

Fans, colleagues and prominent Nigerians have been sending their condolences to music star Davido and his lover, Chioma Rowland, over the death of their son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Young Ifeanyi, who only celebrated his 3rd birthday on October 20 reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at the Banana Island residence of the musician.

Some of the early sympathizers who took to their social media platforms to mourn the toddler’s death prayed for Davido and his family to find peace in the midst of the tragedy.

Actress Iyabo Ojo, while mourning, said, “I don’t even know how to react to this rude shock.”

“I was hoping it wasn’t true. My God!!! This is so shocking, sad, devastating & extremely painful, Olorun!!! Ikun le abiamo.”

Funke Akindele, an actress cum politician, tweeted her condolences, saying: “This is so sad!! Ha!! Rest In Peace little champ. May the almighty God comfort Chioma,Davido and their families.

Singer @ MI_Abaga, on his part, said: “What a dark day. My heart and love go to David and Chioma,

“@davido I pray for your heart and mind this period. You have endured so much loss brother. May God hold you in his arms and keep you through this”

Also mourning, a popular influencer, Japheth Omojuwa, said: “@Omojuma, Love and prayers to Chioma and Davido. Love and prayers to both their families. May they not know this sort of pain and tragedy ever again. I wish them healing and restoration.”.

Two presidential aides, Laurreta Onochie and Bashir Ahmad, also sent their condolences to the singer.

Laurreta [email protected] said: “Dear @davido and Chioma,Losing a child is the most painful experience in life.

“Only God can beam his comforting light at the pains you & your families are enduring at this difficult time.

“I can’t say I understand it all. But my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. “

In his reaction, @BashirAhmaad tweeted thus: “My thoughts and prayers are with @Davido, who has lost a son, Ifeanyi. No parent should experience losing a child in such an unfortunate incident. May God comfort him and Chioma, the mother of the child.”

Although Davido and his fiancé have kept mum over the incident, the Lagos State Police Command had confirmed the young Ifeanyi’s death.

According to the command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, eight domestic staff members working at the Davido residence have been summoned for questioning.

“Eight domestic staff have been brought in for questioning. Anyone found not culpable will be let off.

“Those found culpable will be prosecuted,” Mr Hundeyin told NAN.
