Herdsmen Have Killed 4 Police Officers in Benue State (Graphic Photos)
The herdsmen threat no longer involves only villages and villagers being targets of attacks, but right now security officers are not spared anymore.
Four Police officers were killed in an attack caused by herdsmen, at Anyibe, in Logo Local Government Area of Benue state. The command’s spokesperson ASP Moses Yamu, confirming the attack said Logo and Guma local government areas have been under immense attacks of suspected herdsmen since the beginning of the New Year, which has resulted in the loss of lives.
According to Yamu, the Policemen were killed at Anyibe, Logo LGA between 18.00 hours of Sunday and yesterday early in the morning.
Punch has also reported that the suspected Gunmen to be Fulani herdsmen have killed 32 Tiv villagers at numerous locations across the southern senatorial district of Nasarawa State. The planned attacks occurred on Saturday and Sunday.
The Punch learnt that the attacks were done simultaneously in Awe, Keana, Obi and Doma local government areas of the state, leaving 19 people with different kinds of injury.
Gabriel Akaaka, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, when he was confirming the incident in a telephone interview, has said the gunmen entered his house and set it on fire.
He said, “It is true the gunmen believed to be Fulani herders raided my house this morning and set it ablaze.
“The Tiv villagers are stranded. I have just spoken to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Bello, to deploy his security personnel and security operatives in the state to the area in order to rescue the villagers.”
