The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, has approved N33,000 as minimum wage for all staff in his conglomerate, Sahara Reporters reports.

Mohammed El-Yakub, the managing director of Gotel Communications, Atiku’s media outfit based in Yola, capital of Adamawa, confirmed this to newsmen on Thursday, November 8.

El-Yakub said: “The N33,000 new salary scale, which takes effect from November 2018, includes domestic servants and all categories of workers on the former VP’s payroll.”

He further revealed that Atiku’s monthly payroll contains more than 100,000 staff members currently.

The former vice president, following the recommendation of N30,000 as minimum wage by the tripartite committee set up by the federal government, had urged President Muhammadu Buhari to endorse the figure.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that the president had commended Nigerian workers on Tuesday, November 6, after receiving the report of the national minimum wage tripartite committee in which N30,000 was negotiated as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

The president who enumerated some of the achievements of his administration said he is committed to having a new minimum wage act in the very near future. He also promised to quickly send the bill to the national assembly as soon as possible.
