Look for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah – Sultan of Sokoto tells Muslims
– The Sultan of Sokoto has directed Muslims to look for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah 1439AH
– Muslims are requested to report its sighting to the nearest district or village head
– The monarch prayed for Allah to help them in the discharge of their religious duty
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has directed the Muslim Ummah to look for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah 1439AH from Sunday August 12.
The sultan gave this directive in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the chairman, advisory committee on religious affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, on Sunday, August 12.
“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 which is equivalent to the 29th day of Dhul Qadah 1439AH, shall be the day to look for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah 1439AH.”

“Muslims are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon and report its sighting to the nearest district or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan,’’ he said.
He prayed for all Muslims for Allah to help them in the discharge of their religious duty.
Dhul Hijja, the month for performig the Hajj, is one of the four Holy months in which war or any form of fighting is forbidden (Haram) for Muslims. The other Holy months are Rajab, Dhul-Qa‘dah and Muharram.
NAIJ.com previously reported that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Friday, March 16, called on Muslims to look out for the new moon of Rajab 1439AH.

The monarch made the call in Sokoto in a statement signed by Professor Sambo Junaidu, the Wazirin Sokoto and chairman of the advisory committee on religious affairs to the Sultanate Council.
