No fewer than nine persons have been confirmed dead with scores sustaining injuries in a bloody rival criminal gang clash at Tse-Ujoh, Mbavagh and Ayua villages in Ikyurav-Tiev, in Katsina/Ala Local Government area of Benue state.

The bloody clash also led to the destruction of several houses and property of innocent victims in the affected communities.

Saturday Vanguard gathered from a source in the area that the killings were sparked off by an armed criminal gang from Shetile who stormed the affected villages in search of their members who renounced their membership of the gang.

According to him, “it happened early yesterday, it was a crisis between criminal gangs in Ikyurav and Shetile who belong to criminal groups that have links to a wanted militia leader in the area.

“The crisis was sparked off by the decision of two of the boys in Tse-Ujoh, Mbavagh and Ayua villages to renounce their membership of the criminal gang which did not go down well with other members of the gang even after they had returned the weapons and property of the gang in their possession.
