In a petition to the FCT Police Command, made available to Saturday Vanguard yesterday, the Country Director of CURE-Nigeria, Sylvester Uhaa who commended the Police for the prompt dismissal of the personnel involved in the dastardly act urged the force  further  investigate the conduct of the hospital where the victim died.

The petition read in part, “CURE-Nigeria notes with great concern your silence over the allegations that General Hospital, Garki, where the deceased was taken to, refused to treat her until a police report was provided, leading to her death.

“If these allegations are true the Garki hospital contravened Section 1 of the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017, and such must be held accountable in line with Sections 5 and 14 (1) of the Act to serve as deterrence to other public and private hospitals in the country.

“We therefore, request your Command to begin a full investigation into the alleged violation, to establish the truth and let Nigerians know what really happened at the Hospital.

“Tell Nigerians the steps you have taken to enforce the law just as you told Nigerians about what happened at the scene of the incident and the dismissal, arrest and prosecution of the Officer involved in the killing of Miss Igwetu.”
