Senator Shehu Sani warns banks against randomly borrowing money to states

Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna central in the National Assembly has told banks and lending houses in the country to verify the actual debt status of states before lending money to them.

The senator who acts as chairperson of the Senate committee on debts, gave the caution in a tweet on Thursday, May 17.

He said: “As chair of the Senate commitee on Debts,I wish to caution commercial Banks & Lending Houses against lending money to states without verifying their actual debt status from the DMO & without a documented borrowing approval from their House of Assemblies.”
