For security considerations, the Katsina and Daura Emirates councils in Katsina State have halted public events for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir.

The public display of horse riders (Durbar) at the palaces of the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumin Usman, and the Emir of Daura, Faruk Umar, are both affected.

Residents in the two emirate councils, on the other hand, were urged to use the Sallah season to pray for peace in the state and country.

For security reasons, the Emir of Daura likewise stopped activities honoring the completion of the Ramadan fast in the emirate council in May.

Instead, the royal father instructed district leaders to join the people in their domains in praying for Nigerian peace.

According to insiders, the latest decision was made in response to the state’s present security situation.

Iro Bindawa, a spokesman for the Katsina Emirate Council, verified the news on Wednesday.

In a letter written to Emirate council members and the Emir’s advisers, the Daura Emirate council decided to suspend public activities during the month of Ramadan.

He said, “Yes, the Emirate council has suspended activities concerning Durbar during the Sallah, but his Eminence has implored residents to seize the Sallah period in offering prayers for the state and for Nigeria.”

On behalf of the secretary of the council, Danejin Daura, Abdulmumini Salihu, signed the letter on July 13, 2021.

The statement went on to say that special prayers for long-term peace in the state should be performed immediately after Eid prayers on Sallah day.

Usman Ibrahim, the spokesman for the Emirate council, confirmed the news. “The circular is already in the public domain,” he stated.
