THE RAVERS
When unto ivory we went
In the yore with dreams bent
To bag and haul home
Gold through stress borne
Strive we must if to reign

Some arms folded sleep
With resort only to creep
In their bids to win the prize
With dreams as big as skies
Divine gates they crave to cleft.

Others with onward rigor
For accolades to win and treasure
Labored under sun unlimited
Then at night had lanterns lifted
And burnt candles at twilight

Yet some high-heeled shoes
Stoop to fuddle as foes
Noble minds who safe for
Perturbs of lecherous Jezebels therefore
Were set to burk romance for gold

Thus far have we come
Ambassador each to his home
Only to merit goes the prize
Who carts the golden prize?
Shall we be heaved or abased?

We with kindred stood heaved
For accolade treasured we received
To smile amidst sadness and sorrows
Of ragtag and bobtail fellows
We all were ravers but few got the prize.
