A Sonnet To Poems

O fleshly poems with rhymes as heaven's breath
By grace was borne unto these bards of time,
O sweetened verses mused from great a girth
Which flows like founts, sprouting with winsome chime.

Let Wonders muse upon wondrous exploits;
At glance the wastrels quake in marvelment,
Through your faithful flatteries herald their droits
'On that which they could not hold argument'

O lines with notes sweeter than love and lust
Which call togetherness like Town crier's voice,
Though (might be) laced with fibs, yet true and just
To cause the wretch, the groaners to rejoice.

O do cause my muse, my mouth to invoke
The fleshy fleshy words that do provoke.
