The bats will fly away
The dogs will bark at night
The owls will hoot
And the bells will slowly ring

The lawyers will discuss
Traders will gossip
Statesmen confused
The nation will mourn
The flags half flown
’Cos a hero is gone

Black and black the costume
Then the preacher will preach
A minute silence follows
Then this poem is read
Methuselah is dead

A soldier is back in Heaven
The children of God are thankful
A feast is held in Heaven
White and white the dress code
Then God will smile.
