Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi is a frustrated at his team’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United after going ahead of their hosts twice in the Wednesday’s English Premier League game, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Nigeria international felt the Gunners did enough to win the game, despite surrendering the lead twice in the entralling draw at Old Trafford.
Iwobi played for 65 minutes and was replaced in the 65th minute on his 13th appearance of the campaign for Alexandre Lacazette.
Shkodran Mustafi gave Arsenal lead after David de Gea made a hash of stopping his header in the 26th minute, but Anthony Martial got Manchester United back on level terms after The Gunners were handed the lead courtesy of close-range finish by Anthony Martial four minutes later.
Emery: Arsenal Must Keep Improving
Lacazette restored Arsenal’s lead three minutes after he came on for Iwobi, but parity was restored after 74 seconds when Jesse Lingard poked the ball beyond Bernd Leno.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game because Old Trafford is always a tough place to come. I guess it’s a hard one to take because we were ahead twice. Both teams fought hard, though, so I guess a draw is a fair result for both teams,” Iwobi told Arsenal’s official website.
“Maybe it’s just a mental thing of staying focused. We got a bit excited and tried to rush forward where we shouldn’t have. Maybe it’s about just making sure we settle things down a bit.”
The 22-year-old was also pleased with Arsenal’s 20 games unbeaten run in all competition.
Iwobi said: “Twenty games unbeaten says it all. The fans can see that we’re back to our best and you can see that too on the pitch. Every team is playing well this season so it’s going to be tough, but we’ll just keep going. We can only focus on our own performances.
“We’re very happy with how we’re playing and everyone’s confident. Our manager is always trying to improve things, so we’re never settling. We’re just trying to get better game by game.
“There’s just the small details that everyone can improve on. We’ll go back into training and prepare for Saturday now,” Iwobi stated.
Arsenal host Huddersfield Town in their next game at the Emirates stadium.
