Nigerian striker Samuel Adegbenro scored his first UEFA Europa League goal in his first start for Rosenburg who lost 5-2 at home to Salzburg in a group B encounter reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Adegbenro making his second appearance in the competition reduced the deficit to 4-1 in the 52nd minute after a hat-trick from Takumi Minamino and a strike from Fredrik Gulbrandsen had shot Salzburg into a four-goal lead into the break.
Adegbenro’s Rosenburg are without a win and a point in four games.
Super Eagles in-form forward, Alex Iwobi, made his fourth UEFA Europa League start for Arsenal who qualified for the round of 32 on Thursday with two games left to play in Group E after drawing 0-0 against Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates stadium.
In the other group E game, Vorskla lost 1-0 at home to Qarabag FK. Araz Abdullayev scored a 13th-minute penalty to secure Qarabag FK’s first win of the competition this season.
At the Matmut Atlantique stadium in France, Samuel Kalu played all 90 minutes for Bordeaux in their 1-0 home win over Zenit St. Petersburg.
Francois Kamano scored a 35th-minute penalty to hand Bordeaux the lead before Anton Zabolotny drew Zenit St. Petersburg level in the 71st minute.
The draw was their first point in group C of the competition after three straight defeats.
The Nigerian winger, Kalu, has made four appearances in the competition this season. Despite the win, Bordeaux are still bottom of the group with three points from four games.
Stephen Odey failed to find the net despite playing for the entire duration of FC Zurich’s 1-0 loss away to Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena in a Group A clash. Tin Jedvaj scored the winner in the 60th minute.
Odey who was on target for the City Club as they spanked Luzern 5-2 in last Sunday’s Swiss topflight encounter against Luzern to take his tally to ten goals from 18 games in all competitions.
In the other group game, Ludogorets Razgrad played out a goalless draw at home to AEK Larnaca. Peter Olayinka fired blanks on his debut for SK Slavia Prag who drew goalless at home to FC Copenhagen.
