– President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for his anti-corruption war
– A senior advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clark, commends the president and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
– He says Buhari has done what no government in Nigeria has done
The anti-corruption war of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has been commended by a senior advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clark, who said no government in Nigeria has done what Buhari has done.
Channels reports that Clark made the comments a day after President Buhari vowed to jail more of those who brought the nation into its present economic situation.
NAIJ.com gathers that the legal practitioner urged the president to ensure that corruption is fought in accordance with the provision of the constitution.
During his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on Sunday, August, 19, Clark said: “Buhari has tried as it is humanly possible; no government in Nigeria has done what he has done. In fighting corruption, you must follow it through a system. The rule of law is there. So anything he (Buhari) has to do cannot be done in isolation.”
“Once he discovers corruption somewhere, his duty is to point it out. His duty is to point it out, fish it out; at that stage, his job finishes.”
Commending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for continuously pursuing corruption cases in court, Clark said the anti-graft agency has been diligent in performing its duties.
He, however, said fight against corruption would “always be selective because you will not find any rational political leader start picking his own members when he is in government.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, August 18, reportedly restated his commitment to work harder to ensure that all who looted the nation’s treasury were jailed.
He said: “I will work hard the more to ensure that all those who stole the nation’s money are sent to prison.”
