Asiodu moves to stop super highway project in C-River

By Fredrick Okopie

Former Petroleum Minister and President, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Conversation Foundation, NCF, Mr. Philip Asiodu, has said the foundation has joined forces with other notable non-governmental organisations, NGOs, to stop the super highway project in Cross River State, saying it is not in the best interest of the local people.

Mr. Asiodu, who spoke at the 28th  Annual General Meeting, AGM, held at the National Headquarters of the NCF, in Lekki, Lagos, said they had strengthened their collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment by signing a Memorandum of  Understanding, MoU, in March 2016, for the promotion of nature conversation, ecotourism and sustainable management of Nigeria’s Environmental Resources.

According to him: “The NCF has teamed up with other  civil society groups and international partners to mobilise support against the proposed super highway project as it will destroy much of the remaining rain forest.”
