Watch The Cast Of 'Dear White People' Try To Guess Words In South African Languages

First gracing our screens back in 2017, Netflix's acclaimed dramedy, Dear White People recently returned for its highly anticipated sophomore season, and it's even more thought-provoking and intense than before.

The show follows the story of a group of young black and biracial students at a predominantly white Ivy League University, as they navigate the woes of being black in a supposedly 'post-racial society'.

In a recently released video with Netflix South Africa, which aims to promote the new season, the cast of the show come together to try and guess the meaning of words from a bunch of different South African languages.

The hilarious video has one member of the cast see the word and it's meaning, whilst trying to explain what it means for the other person to guess. Some of the attempts were expectedly seamless, like the word "Umlungu" which means "white person" in Zulu.

While the video is admittedly funny and adorable, we can't help but be a little irritated by this, especially in light of Rashid – the show's token one-dimensional African character. They're happy to create African content but won't present us with an authentic African character.

Apart from this unfortunate aspect of the series, however, Dear White People is still one of our favourite shows out right now, and is currently available to stream on Netflix.
