South West Rugby League rounds off on Saturday

The 2017 NRFF South West Rugby League will be rounding off this Saturday at the National Institute Of Sports pitch inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from 10am through to 6pm with 4 matches on the cards, National Daily gathered.

Technical Director of the Nigeria Rugby Federation Ntiense Williams told National Daily that the proceedings begins with the first match in the Division Two of the League featuring Eco2 Rfc against Gosar Rfc to determine who comes 2nd or 3rd on the four team table.

The second match of the afternoon is between Panthers Rfc and Dragons Rfc to confirm the winner of this group who will gain promotion to the Division One of the National League in the 2018 National League season, and who drops out of the league.

Lagos RFC will also lock horns with Police Rfc. This will also to determine the 3rd and 4th position on the Division One League table and who drops next year.

The final match of the day will see the defending champions Cowrie Rfc slogging it out against Racing Rfc to determine who comes 2nd or 3rd in the 2017 South West Rugby League Division One.”

Meanwhile, from last weekend results of games played at the same venue, Panthans Rfc defeated Gosar Rfc by 10points to 5points, while Eco2 Rfc walked over Dragons Rfc in the Second Division of the league.

In Division One, Racing Rfc walked over Lagos Rfc, whilst Cowrie Rfc defeated Police Rfc by 21 points to nil.

At present in the Second Decision, Panthers Rfc is topping the table with 14 points, followed by Gosar Rfc with 13points. In 3td position is Eco 2 Rfc with 9points and Dragons Rfc are in the bottom of the table with 5points due to none participation in the second phase of the league.

In the First Division, Cowrie Rfc is still topping the rugby league with 22points. They are closely followed by Racing Rfc with 12points, whilst Police Rfc is in 3rd position with 11points and Lagos Rfc in forth position without a point.

At the end of the 2017 South West Rugby League, the 4th team in the first Division will be relegated to the Second Division, while the first team in the Second Division will gain promotion to the Division One Rugby League.

Also there will be a new entrant into the Second Division in a play-off of two teams who have been waiting in the wings, while the 4th team will lose their place in the league.

The South West Rugby league started early in the year with the first phase completed before the board election. It resumed the second phase after the completion of the prestigious Independence Sevens Tournament.
