Ooni of Ife is set to sign Treaty making Salvador in Brazil a twin-city to Ile-Ife

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi will sign a treaty declaring Salvador in Bahia, Brazil, a twin city to Ile-Ife, Osun State.

According to Vanguard, the bill had been passed by the Congress of Salvador, and the Ooni is expected to sign on behalf of the Yoruba people around the world.
Ayo Omidire, the Director, Institute of African Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, described the treaty as an opportunity for cultural exchange and artistic and economic empowerment.

Below is a statement released by the Ooni’s Palace :

“The treaty is for the entire Yoruba race. Ile-Ife was mentioned specifically being the headquarters of the Yoruba race. So as Ife is the recognised ancestral home of the Yoruba people, Bahia is henceforth seen as the headquarters of Yoruba race in Americas. All Yoruba speaking states will benefit from the opportunities listed in the agreement”.
