For Raye’s impressive new six-track EP, Side Tape, the talented English singer assembled an enviable list of collaborators, including Mr Eazi, Ray BLK, Maleek Berry, Kojo Funds, Nana Rogues, Mabel and more.
According to Raye, one of her favourite songs off the EP — alongside "Crew" featuring Kojo Funds and Ray BLK — is the Maleek Berry-assisted "Confidence", and it only takes a single listen to understand why: the track is an undeniable banger.[embedded content]
Produced by Nana Rogues, the smooth track finds Raye singing about going out to nab a confident African lover ("African boy, where are you at though?"), and the charming Maleek Berry is quick to volunteer as tribute.
On the song’s infectious chorus, Raye sings "Need a brother who move confident/Need a fella who do what he want/Got me feelin' all ooh", to which Maleek Berry confidently responds, "Oh, you need a brother like me, babe".
While "Confidence" is definitely our favourite song off Side Tape, it's not the only track worth listening to. The entire EP is actually really impressive, and should (hopefully) win Raye a bunch of brand new fans.
