WWE is a perfect example of sports and entertainment overlapping. Last week, American professional wrestling stars converged in South Africa to give African fans a feel of the action. With three different shows staged in Pretoria, Cape Town and Johannesburg, it was an explosive tour that left fans yearning for more – and the WWE knows that. That’s why the company is looking to host another tour in Africa and they’re considering Kenya this time!
Speaking with Game Yetu, WWE Vice President International Communication, Dan Humphreys said they want to come to Nairobi if there is enough interest. In his words:
“We are always on the lookout to go where our fans are and are not ruling out Nairobi or any other city on the continent once we see the interest is sufficient.”
Even before European football leagues became this widespread in Africa, many of us were diehard WWE fans. The last show in South Africa, which took place at the 20,000-seater TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, was sold out. In fact, after the South African show a fan said she wouldn’t mind having the stars again in one month's time.
These are serious signals of ‘sufficient interest’. So, WWE, give us a date for that Kenya tour!
