Unveiled at Sundance on January 21, Hereditary has already been hailed as one of the scariest films of 2018. Stamped with a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics are so buzzed about the movie they're calling it "a new generation's The Exorcist".
Now, some months after its first, the team behind this scare-a-thon has just released another deeply disturbing trailer. Watch it below:
A cinematic debut for Ari Aster, the spooky flick comes from independent production studio A24 which gave us hits like Moonlight, Lady Bird, The Disaster Artist, The Florida Project, as well as horror favorites The Babadook and The Witch. Here's what the film's synopsis has to say:
"When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited."
Hereditary, starring Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne and The Handmaid’s Tale's Ann Dowd, is set to hit theaters on June 8. Check out the first trailer below... if you dare.
