Journalist found dead in Anambra

A Cameraman with the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), who was declared missing by members of his family four days ago, has been found dead.

The journalist, Mr Ikechukwu Onubogu, was said to have disappeared from home after he received a phone call in the afternoon on 12th November, 2017.

Although the cause of his death could not immediately be ascertained, the wife of the deceased explained that immediately her husband received the phone call, he swiftly took his camera and left his home.

It was gathered that he left for the popular Aroma Junction in Awka but never returned.

It was further gathered that his remains were discovered on Thursday by men of the Nigerian Police Force at Obosi, near Onitsha.

Confirming the death of the journalist, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nkeiru Nwode, assured members of the public that the police would uncover the killer of Onobogu.

She further explained that investigation has commenced into the mysterious disappearance and death of the photo journalist promising that the force would do its best to uncover the killers.

Meanwhile, his remains have been deposited at the Amaku Teaching Hospital, Awka.

Reacting in a statement on Friday, Mr Uche Nworah, the Managing Director of ABS, described late Onubogu as a “peace loving man that you would never expect that anybody would want to harm him”.

“Our thoughts remain with his family, particularly his wife, who recently gave birth,” the statement said.
