The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has cried out over the activities of some fraudsters who allegedly used his name to defraud the people through some social media platforms.
The governor explained that the suspected fraudsters allegedly created a fake facebook account which bore his name and pictures and asked youths to pay a certain amount of money to secure forms for a Canada visa lottery.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye, on Sunday, the governor said investigation had begun to arrest the suspected fraudsters.
The statement read in part, “Investigations revealed that a fake Facebook account was opened in the name of the governor. The fake account was used to ask interested youths to secure forms for a fee.
“It was further discovered that the fraudulent post was shared by one Ada Okoye, who also made the same fraudulent request. The governor wishes to inform the general public to disregard such requests.
“While we are investigating the perpetrator of this fraudulent act, we are calling on unsuspecting members of the public to note that all government’s programmes are advertised on broadcast stations in the state.”
The statement warned the people of the state against transacting any business with the fraudsters.
