The city of Johannesburg has begun the process of erecting s_ex dolls in the CBD as a measure to curb ra_pe and spread of HIV.

According to LiveMonitor, The bill to have the program initiated was passed last week. Speaking at the event, Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba said the city consulted with relevant stake holders to see if there was a way to stop the rampant ra_pe statistics and came up with the ‘brilliant idea’.

“In order to reduce the worrying ra_pe statistics, we have decided to erect these dolls in booths starting with the Joburg CBD. More cities and towns will follow and by the end of the year, we expect to have a s_ex doll every 1km in Gauteng,” Herman said.

Both female and male dolls with be available in separate booths. The booths will be totally free and one can just enter and help themselves. A private owned company was tasked with manufacturing the dolls which come in all the South African races.

“People will be spoilt for choice. I have seen the dolls and they are really life like,” a city official said.

The move, according to the department, will also help reduce the spread of HIV. However, s_ex workers in the city have voiced their disapproval for the program citing that it affects them the most. One street prostitute said :

“This is crap, how are we going to survive. They are punishing us here. We can’t sit and watch this. We are organising a march to the mayor’s office to stop this. Otherwise we will burn all the booths”

Reception from the masses was mixed with some applauding the practice while others said it was unethical.
