She's the show's first black Bachelorette.
Rachel Lindsay has been a fan favorite on this season of The Bachelor - she’s super-cool, gorgeous, and smart, and clearly has amazing chemistry with Nick Viall.
While Rachel is still on the show, apparently Nick didn’t end up picking her in the end, because Bachelor host Chris Harrison announced Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Rachel is the next Bachelorette.
This is pretty significant in the Bachelor world - Rachel will be the first black Bachelorette ever.
"I’m happy to represent myself as a black woman in front of America and I’m happy for America to rally behind me and see what it’s like for me to be on this journey to find love,” she told People.
“Honestly, it’s not going to be that different from any other season of The Bachelorette.”
Here’s what you need to know about Rachel:
She’s a lawyer
Rachel, 31, is a personal-injury lawyer at the Dallas firm Cooper & Scully, the New York Times reports, and she received her law degree from Marquette University in 2011.
She’s totally normal
…aside from the whole reality show thing. “I’m just a black woman trying to find love,” Rachel tells People.
“Yes, I’m doing on this huge stage, but again my journey of love isn’t any different just because my skin color is.”
She’s an amazing dancer
Rachel busted a move or two on her dates with Nick, and totally showed him up…subtly, of course. She might even be up for a stint on Dancing With The Stars, according to Hollywood Life.
Her legal know-how runs in the family
Rachel’s dad is a BFD - Sam A. Lindsay is a federal judge in Dallas, and was appointed to his position by Bill Clinton in 1998, according to the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas website. She also revealed on Monday night’s episode that she calls her dad “Sam” but she doesn’t recommend people she dates do the same.
She’s a big football fan
Rachel’s not shy about her love of the Dallas Cowboys.
I'm a true Cowboys fan through the good and the bad and this season has been a good one! Let's Go Blue! #americasteam #wecametoplay #superbowlbound #dallascowboys

“If you know anybody out there who needs to apply, sign up, go ahead and get it started.”
