UNIMAID Bomb Blast: Saraki Tasks FG To Beef Up Security Around Schools, Soft Targets Bukola Saraki
The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has raised the alarm over the rising trend of Boko Haram attacks on soft targets, despite the capture of the terrorist stronghold, Sambisa Forest.

Saraki made the remark while condemning the Monday bomb attack on University of Maiduguri that left a Professor and several others dead.

In a statement sent to DAILY POST by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, the President of the Senate decried the loss of valuable human lives and destruction of property during the incident.

Expressing concerns over the rising trend of isolated Boko Haram attacks on soft targets, Saraki said such attacks have “created fears among Nigerians,” adding that in spite of the obvious defeat of the insurgents, “pockets of attacks are still being perpetrated by the fleeing remnants of the outlaws.”

The statement quoted Saraki as saying the attack on the university provides a cogent reason why security should be strengthened around all educational and allied institutions to prevent reoccurrence.

He said, “This attack calls for urgent security measures for all potential targets across the country so as to prevent the insurgents from taking undue advantage of the emerging peaceful atmosphere across the country.”

While praying God to grant repose to the souls of the departed and quick recovery for the injured, he called on Nigerians to be more vigilant and security conscious.

This is coming at a time when President Muhammadu Buhari had commended the Military for capturing Boko Haram’s stronghold, Sambisa Forest.
