The March 2017 edition of one of Lagos' most exciting music festivals Afropolitan Vibes held on Friday, March 17, 2017.

This was a special edition as it marked four years since the show's inception, and with this milestone comes some interesting changes in how the program organisers planned to move the concert forward.

Afropolitan Vibes celebrates 4 years on stage

The headliner acts Adekunle Gold, Tomi Thomas, and Obadikah brass band, among others came through in grand style. Dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan who was billed to perform as well couldn't make it down reportedly due to a fever bug she caught.

The Obadikah brass band were the first acts to hit the stage. Dressed in traditional Yoruba ensemble, and armed with their music instruments, the sax, drums, trumpets, the indigenous band gave a good account of themselves.

Eclectic singer and songwriter Tomi Thomas of the Loud on Sound (LOS) boy band fame, was an instant crowd stunner, with his infectious stage persona, letting his voice stand out as he pulls great music, performing his latest single 'JJC'.

You could just tell he was enjoying himself even as the audience were carried along with his cool vibes projected on the stage. It was a resounding performance from Thomas without a doubt. The lad is indeed the future of Nigerian and world music, pushing good music all day.

A surprise performance from the legendary singer Majek Fashek beheld the night, as the reggae singer took to the stage to perform his classics - 'Send down the rain', and 'Little patience' greeted by a loud ovation by the crowd, singing along to his music.

Old age which is however catching up with the veteran singer only made his performance subpar, but his effort and zeal coming out was definitely appreciated by the music lovers.

Ade Bantu announced to the displeasure and booing of the crowd that going forward the event Afropolitan Vibes will no longer hold monthly, but rather on a quarterly basis, explaining that the team plan on expanding the reach of the concert beyond Lagos and Nigeria, taking it other parts of Africa.

Bantu also revealed that the concert will equally be holding on the mainland to cater for the music audience over there. The arrangements he says will be spelt out in detail soon.

YBNL crooner Adekunle Gold took the stage as the last act, looking fly in his traditional regalia worn over a well fitted black on black top and pant trouser. Without further ado, the admired singer rolled out the music with songs off his "Gold" debut album, starting off with 'Beautiful night', which was well received by his teeming fans.

Dancing graciously with his fashion attire, Adekunle owned the stage with his cheerful singing. 'Ariwo ko' was next up which lit up the fans' mood just as much, this was followed by the award winning 'Pick up' that resonated beautifully too with the crowd.

In between some of the fans out of the audience, precisely the ladies joined him up on stage, with a particular lady flaunting her curves and endowments all over the stage, which inspired Adekunle Gold throwing in some lines off label mate Olamide's 'Pepper dem gang' song. "Oh baby...make up on fleek, pepper dem gang," he sang repeatedly to the pleasure of the audience.

Gold then rounded off the performance in beautiful fashion with the upbeat single 'My life', leaving the fans much satisfied at the end of the night.

The next edition is said to hold in June of 2017.
