STRANGERS AT HOME
(to Okonkwo of Chinua Achebe's 'Things Fall Apart)

Now they are back
they have come to stay at last
our entrance is wide enough
strangers at home.

The bamboo bed is strong and stilt
On it their lumbar shall rest
soothing the labour encamped
their legs at peace from trek.

Nnoo, our blood beloved
Cast at length in exile you have stayed
No longer there be drawn,
a curtain between us.
Never would hey again; call
you banished.

The gods are now at peace
Our fathers has cleansed your deed
Purified our earth, now , remained
Kudos and homage to them.
