Still Standing

I am still standing on a sugar mountain across a milk ocean.

I am neither a sweet tooth nor a spoilt kid that grew up on cerelac & peak milk, how else to describe a cherished one other than with the sweetest things in life? Indeed rhetorical & needs no answer

Doubt not these words, they aren't just empty, long winded or shallow loquaciousness

Oh no they are but true words from the deep corners of the heart I once thought I never had

It could have been a heart of stone, it could have been plastic or mechanical but today you filled it with life and it never skips a beat

These are not just words you gave to the heart as a gift, they are simply an inspiration from you through me

Yes I have put pen to paper but the flow of words are an iota of the emotions you stir up in this heart

You are indeed sweet as sugar & beautiful like pure milk thus the mountain I'm standing on across from the ocean

The ink in the pen might dry up or the paper used up but these words will never stop flowing

That has been nothing but an introduction, for this poem is yet to start!

I have always believed that life is full of moments and moments spent with you are moments best cherished.

Oh but that time you smiled or the time you got excited and the time you leapt with joy or that 'ahhh' sigh of joy, if only I could, I will make every day such a joyous moment for you

I am but a loner in this world wondering around the wilderness until you changed me with a smile

How can I repay you oh my darling for the joys you filled this vessel with, in four life times I won't be a needy person

Content I am for the joys you brought but how can I say 'enough' as long as you are giving, for you are the sun that illuminates me and the food that nourishes me.
