Makinwa backs Sunday Oliseh Sunday Oliseh

Former Spain-based forward Henry Makinwa is confident that Nigeria coach, Sunday Oliseh, will lead the country to a place at the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles, who crashed out of Rwanda 2016 African Nations Championship at the group stages,   face Egypt in the Gabon 2017 qualifiers in March.

Makinwa, who lamented the country’s exit at CHAN, told our correspondent that the Eagles would qualify for the tournament, despite the problems resulting from the Eagles’ failure in Rwanda.

“It is quite unfortunate that the administrators don’t take adequate care of the players in Nigeria,” the former Rayo Vallencano striker said.

“In developed countries, such issues as players being owed their bonuses and allowances do not happen. It is a sad thing that it keeps recurring in Nigeria.

“But I believe Oliseh will help Nigeria qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He is qualified enough to do it and he has seen much in the game to enable him to do same for Nigeria. Qualifying for the tournament is one thing and winning it is another.

“He has done considerably well so far and what he needs right now is support from everybody rather than condemnation. When he gets the right support, he will be confident enough to instill same in the players and bring the glory to the country.

“Nigeria has good players that can do the job and with Oliseh. The Eagles will be formidable if given time to grow. Their next outing in the qualifiers against Egypt will be tough but I believe they will get the required points to move to the next stage of the tournament.”
