AN undergraduate of the University f Jos, Emmanuel Godwin Tawe and one Chuks were shot dead on Sunday morning by men suspected to be cult members.
A room-mate of Tawe, Ahmed Ayede, a 200-level student of political science department, who also suffered gun-shot wounds is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Some cult gangs had had a clash on October 12, during the Queen of UNJOS' competition, where a number of students had suffered injuries.
"The rival cult groups were fighting over some girls and there was a free-for-all fight, which we thought had ended there. Obviously, some people were still aggrieved and promised to deal decisively with the other party," a student said.
According to the source, about 10 fully armed men invaded the quarters and attacked Tawe and other occupants in the room with him.
Unfortunately, the source said, he was shot in the head and chest and later died on the way to the hospital while Chuks gave up the ghost on Monday morning.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Innocent Ilozuoke, confirmed the incident, but added that he received the report of only one dead student shot by suspected cult members.
The building where the incident took place had since been deserted by other occupants. The University spokesman, Mr. Steve Otowo, was not in the office for comments.
