| An Ijaw boy, stubborn and troublesome, responsible for sending his mother out of his father's house, wanted a bicycle as birthday gift and knowing his mother was not happy with him, decided to consult Jesus, through a letter, to compel his mother to buy him a bicycle. He wrote: "Dear Jesus, you know I have been a good boy..." He wasn't convinced of this underserved adjective arogated to himself. He decided to take it the Niger Delta way: He ran to the Church. When his mother asked where he was going and he said Church, the woman was happy his son would be a changed person afterall. Getting to the Church, the boy did not see anyone around and went straight to the altar and picked the Holy Mary statue on the altar table and hid it under his shirt and ran back to his room and wrote to Jesus: "Dear Jesus, I want you to tell my mother to buy me a bicycle, otherwise, I have kidnapped your mother and will not release her until the bicycle is bought" |
