It is, indeed, an enormous task for the govern ments, both at the Federal and the States levels, to provide for the people good and affordable health facilities, decent housing, drinkable and hygienic water in both the urban or rural areas.

This is an area of national development that the Obasanjo Administration must address with com mitment and adequate political will. It is indeed hoped that the Administration's 'Poverty Alleviation' programme, a major centre piece of the Adminis tration's programme for rapid national transforma tion, will make decent health, housing and water facilities available to the great majority of Nigerians. Besides, the private sector should help by investing in these sectors, particularly in housing, electricity and water supply.
