Europe’s big five leagues saw a variety of performances in the past six months. Looking at these performances, sports research group, CIES Observatory just released stats rating players for the period in question, and Wilfred Ndidi emerged as the best Nigerian player.
Out of the 837 players that were ranked, the consistently impressive 22-year-old is currently ranked at 182, with a solid rating of 77.9. Interestingly, 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, Luka Modrić has the exact same rating.
The last rankings, published six months ago, saw him following Kenneth Omeruo as the second-best Nigerian player in Europe. At the time, he had a rating of 72.0, but he pulled off one of the best midfield performances in the Premier League last season to take his rating up 5.9 points.
Ndidi is followed by Samuel Chukwueze as the second-best Nigerian player, according to the rankings. Chukwueze, who was nothing short of phenomenal for Villarreal last season, is ranked at 313 with a rating of 75.0.
